All About Wine
Do you want to learn more about wine? It's a subject a lot of people just can't get enough of. And there is an abundance of information about wine bulls on the Internet and off.
-
wine is essentially just fermented grapes
-
wine can be made out of many different fruits as well
-
wine is one of the oldest beverages in the world, we've been making and drinking it for a few thousand years
-
what do you need to know about this beverage in order to enjoy it? Nothing, just do a little tasting and enjoy what you like
-
a little knowledge will help you find wines you really enjoy though
There are
books galore
on the subject, and many wine experts and connoisseurs that know a tonne on the subject as well.
But when you get right down to it
wine
is essentially just fermented Grapes(or fruit). And these fermented Grapes have had a captive audience for few 1000 years. I have been an avid audience member for a number of years :-) I think the best way to find out all about vino is to experience it, yes, taste it.
I absolutely love trying out new wines from different
Countries
and regions I've never tried before. And I am always open to suggestions.
Another way to experience wines fully is to go on a
wine tour.
You learn the proper method for tasting and experiencing it to it's fullest. I also love taking the "full"tour at wineries, you learn so much about growing the grapes and everything that goes into making the wines. It truly is an art in itself.

Some people have turned it into a fulltime hobby learning more about this fascinating beverage, it is the number one beverage of choice for many. You don't have to know a lot about
wine
to enjoy drinking it. I know when I first started drinking vino I didn't have much knowledge at all. But as the years have gone by I have gained more insight and knowledge of wine by experiencing it.
There's been a fair amount of taste testing 101, a few wine tours, and a little bit of research and reading on the subject. But I was up for the challenge.
When I first had a glass of
blush wine
years ago, looking back that was my first step in my journey with wine. Fast forward a couple of decades by on the odd occasion have a class of rose still.
But I now have progressed to
fuller dryer bolder red wines,
this is definitely my first choice now. But I'm not stuck only on this type of vino.
I still occasionally enjoy a glass of really
cold rose in the summer,
as well as the occasional nice glass of
chardonnay
with a beautiful pasta dish that has seafood or a nice white sauce on it. I like variety, I'm always up for trying something different. And I love a nice
lighter pinot noir
anytime of the year, with any dish.

I do find it much easier to choose wine to enjoy now, then when I first started my love affair with vino. I am also much more adventurous and trying different wines I have never tried before.
There's so much information, and it is ever changing on wine that no one can ever know everything there is about vino. It is nice to know little though, it makes choosing your wines a little easier.
You can expand your knowledge by old fashioned book reading, but I learn best "hands on". Going to local wineries to do some taste testing and maybe take a tour, is a really fun way to get to know you're wines better.
If you like the wines from a particular winery you have visited...with many wineries you can sign up for their online newsletter and be one of the first to learn about their new releases and specials that they might be running.
Some wineries also have
monthly wine clubs
that you can sign up for, they will conveniently deliver your wine straight to your door. What could be easier than that.
Another place you can go for wine tasting and furthering your knowledge is your local wine bar or wines specialty store. I live in a relatively small to medium sized town of Chillwack. We have two fantastic wine specialty stores here. Both are always steady busy.
Most of the time in these types of stores you'll find quite knowledgeable staff. Tell them what you like and don't like, and they will be happy to help you find just the right wines for you.
They can also teach you more about wine and keep you posted on up and coming specials. So always be extra nice to them see you can get the inside scoop before everyone else does.
So let's see with the help of the Internet, books,
wine stores,
wineries and of course the most important wine tasting on your own or with friends; your knowledge about wine can rapidly expand. It will enhance your wine experience and make choosing wine easier. Knowing a lot about wine is definitely not a prerequisite to enjoying it. So grab a bottle and just enjoy... You can learn more later!
Cheers
